The 24-year-old singer announced the news on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, writing: ‘Some big news from me today!

‘Wayne and I are having a baby. We are both SO happy and can’t wait for his or hers arrival!’

And Frankie’s Saturdays bandmates were quick to congratulate the couple, with Una Healy leading the way by writing: ‘So happy and excited for our @FrankieTheSats and Wayne’s baby news!! X’   The Saturdays’ official Twitter page added: ‘Lots and lots of love to @FrankieTheSats and W ayne on their big news!! The Sats family is growing and we are SO thrilled for them! xx’

The singer’s happy news comes just weeks after she and Wayne announced their engagement.

Posting a picture of her knockout diamond ring on Twitter in early April, the 24-year-old wrote: ‘Guess what?!!!’, while posing with her footballer boyfriend.

‘Wayne proposed to me on Saturday evening and I said yes. We are both very happy,’   Frankie, who has had a tempestuous few years after her public battle with depression, looked wide-eyed in the Twitter snap, covering her mouth with her hand and showing off the rock in the process.   Manchester City footballer Wayne, 32, who is currently on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion, kissed his fiancée in the photo, while she seemed more concerned about flashing the ring.

Frankie has been with the sportsman since December 2010.   The singer previously dated McFly bassist Dougie Poynter, who she reportedly split from just a couple of months before she met Wayne back in 2010.   Wayne had a son, Jaydon Jean Claude Bridge, with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel back in 2006.   However, they split in 2009 – a few months later Vanessa was alleged to have had four month affair with married footballer John Terry, who was Wayne’s teammate at Chelsea at the time.

Frankie first sparked rumours she could be expecting last month, when she displayed a rounded figure as she performed with her Saturdays bandmates at Aintree Races.   She also refused alcohol during a March appearance on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man, opting for a Capri Sun alongside fellow expectant bandmate Rochelle Humes.

She is the third member of The Saturdays to start a family.   Una Healy is mother to one-year-old daughter Aoife Belle with husband Ben Foden, while Rochelle’s first baby with JLS husband Marvin is due any day now.

Speaking recently about Rochelle’s impending arrival, Frankie admitted she was feeling broody, tweeting: ‘Would quite like @RochelleTheSats baby to come out now please. I want to meet him or her!!’

Any day now! Rochelle Humes and her husband Marvin are expecting their first child   And in a previous interview, Frankie said that she and Wayne wanted to have a baby before getting married.

She said: ‘Everyone keeps asking me and Wayne when we are getting married and when we are having babies.

‘I am a bit bored of everyone asking because it’s like, “We will do it when we are ready. If you keep asking about it, it’s not going to happen”. It’s not fair for the guy to have that pressure.’   And in a previous interview, Frankie said that she and Wayne wanted to have a baby before getting married.

Ben Foden Strips!

While most men wouldn’t dream of trying to woo one of The Saturdays, Ben Foden did it with relative ease. The Northampton Saints rugby player literally picked out pop star Una Healy after he watched her on television and decided that he liked her.

While standing around in his underwear with his six-pack and pectorals on show, Ben explained exactly how he met his wife.

Speaking to Attitudemagazine he said: ‘I’d been having lunch in a pub with my agent when he asked about my love life and I was ‘oh, non existent’.

‘He asked if there was anyone I was thinking about, then The Saturdays popped up on the music channel in the corner and I said ‘oh the one in the blue tights’.

‘And the next thing I know I’ve got a text saying ‘she’s expecting your call’.

Surprisingly, Ben and Una have music in common, although the 31-year-old Irish beauty is much more successful than her husband.

Foden had a crack at making a music career for himself and once auditioned for television show Pop Idol.

He told the magazine: ‘I got through to the next round, which fell on the same day as my first training session with Sale Sharks.

‘I think they’d say I wasn’t a very good singer. I don’t think I will be following in Una’s footsteps.’

His falsetto may not have brought him the fame and riches that his rugby has, but the father-of-one still enjoys watching his other half perform.

Ben admitted to the magazine that he is particularly fond of going to see The Saturdays belt out their hits at G-A-Y.

He told the magazine: ‘I’ve been twice. I had a great time.’   The family have spent much of the last 12 months on different sides of the Atlantic as Una and her Saturdays bandmates Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Rochelle Humes and Vanessa White attempted to crack America and film their E! reality show Chasing The Saturdays.   But even though they are reunited for the time being, Una recently admitted she Ben and Aoife are enjoying being a trio too much to think about expanding their brood.    ‘Aoife Belle won’t be having any brothers or sisters anytime soon but I’d definitely love more in the future.’
